Placing a zipper on Your Handbag
By fashionstudentsonline | October 19, 2011
Handbags have now become an indispensable part of a woman’s dressing. Earlier, handbags used to be looked down as a utility to carry small items like jewels, money, etc. However, today’s world can make a fashion statement out of any physical item. A handbag generally is open at one end. However, if you wish, you can install a zipper on your handbag so as to secure your stored items. You will need some basic information about zippers & their installation before beginning your project.
It is good to start with a rough sketch. Draw a rough estimate of the zipper on your handbag. Leave a margin of about one half inch for the seam allowance. Make a clean cut about the seam line. Align the zipper over the fabric of your handbag, giving due consideration to the edges. Start sewing, ensuring strong stitches and locks. You can opt for a second round of stitches for added protection.
