Welcome to Fashion Students Online. This website has been built with the mission to make fashion education accessible and to enable learners of all kinds to soak up the collective knowledge. All of the content on this website is created by our users -- that's right, every user has the right and ability to submit and share information with the group. We have a vibrant community of students, home learners, hobbyists, and even grannies who are interested in knowing how to do more than just sew and we hope you'll join us in making this website an amazing resource. Fashion Students Online™ is a community project. All users are able to submit content and exercise some control over the direction of the site. However some users want to be more involved and we love those ones!

If you are as excited about this project as we are, able to dedicate yourself to your job requirements, responsible and mature enough to handle critiques and editing of your materials, we would love to have your join our staff. The FSO staff are a team of people who are dedicating themselves to making sure this website happens. It's a lot of work and we can always use more help.

We are looking for Student Bloggers, Content Writers, Interviewers people to help with Graphics and Copywriting...plus more. Please scroll down for detailed info!

Site staff get a lot of bonuses. They get fancy full bios where they can write about themselves, their business, etc. They get special "Staff" ranking in the forums and full VIP access to every feature of the site. They get the pleasure of helping others. And, they collect FSOPs for their content which means when they cease to be a staff member they will have lots of FSOPs available to receive free VIP subscriber access to the website.

There are many things you can do, please contact us if you are interested in the positions below, or any other position you can think of that we did not :)

Copywriter:
Seeking a professional copywriter with experience to write our press releases (no more than one in a month, mostly one every few months) and possibly newsletter if you have the time (that is twice a month). We also need this person to set up our press pack and give us some guidelines on how to continue building it.

Graphic Design:
This website is pretty awesome. It's full of great information and great people but when it comes to the Internet looks tend to prevail and as you can see our look is pretty basic. If you are a graphic designer who would like to help us look a bit snazzier we would LOVE to have you! We're pretty happy with our header which was submitted by a designer but the rest of the site really could use some jazzing up to make it more "fashion" friendly. The webmaster (AJ) has very little website graphical design experience and could really use your help.

Interviewer:
Desperately seeking someone witty, professional, and well-written to do email and/or phone interviews. Note there is no budget to pay for phone calls so a lot will be via email unless you want to pay for the call. If the interviewer needs help finding people to interview we can help but they are also welcome to do it all themselves. 2 interviews per month are required and should be 8-15 questions long.

Student Bloggers:
Student bloggers are required in all all years of their program and in all programs related to fashion and textiles. There are two main requirements of student bloggers and they are 1) You must make 2 posts per week (or 3 short posts); and 2) at least one of these posts must outline the topics that you learned that week. You can choose to literally list what you have learned or you can work it into your posts in discussion format. The idea of the student blogs is we want people to literally be able to follow along with you and learn on their own the topics that you are learning in school. In addition to those 2 requirements there is only one rule: Your blog must be educational. These blogs are not for people to post "what I wore today" or "omg I love the new ---- trend!". Everything posted in your blog must be educational. So, for instance if you are talking about a trend and where it came from, or the psychology of the buying public or why in terms of being a stylist a certain outfit didn't work on a celeb...that kind of stuff is okay because it is educational to those looking to learn about fashion design and textiles. The other celeb/trend/etc type posts are a dime a dozen and can be found on every other website. We want FSO to be different

Content Writers:
Our content writers are free to contribute any kind of content they want as long as they contribute 2 feature sized articles per month. The content they submit may be tutorials, essays, opinion pieces, reviews, etc. And they are welcome to repost content from their own website or content they have written in the past.

Columnists:
We are interested in finding 2-3 people to do bi-weekly columns on one specific subject (of your choosing) which would be of interest to fashion design and textile students. For example a Designer-Entrepreneur may want to do a column about business and for every article choose a new topic within that to write about...problems new entrepreneurs might face, nostalgic posts about their start, or even personal tidbits about something that is happening in their business right now. We're really open minded so if there is anything you think you could write about long-term on a bi-weekly basis please let us know. You're also welcome to repost content from your own website or content you have written in the past.

Social Networking Guru (aka Promotions Manager)
Do you have a trazillion followers on twitter? Are you connected at the hip to facebook? Do you have star status on dozens of message boards? We need someone just like you to manage our promotions. You will have full control of our twitter and facebook accounts and any other network you think we should be on. You must already have a proven track record with at the very least one of twitter or facebook groups. Using a scheduler for the postings is perfectly fine but you must also spend time on the sites and know how to interact with followers to keep them interested and loyal.

If you would be interested in joining the FSO staff please contact AJ via private message by clicking here or use our contact form.
