Fashion Students Online will be launching a rather massive fashion design, fashion illustration, and textiles book directory in the next month or two. We do not want to simply provide reviews -- you can get those anywhere. Users will be able to post reviews however we don't want to simply have the directory be a review directory. Instead we want to provide the information that is relevant and necessary for people to make informed decisions on buying books -- especially in this new age where many of us buy our books online 90% of the time.

I've posted a thread with the information in our forums and you can read it there. You can reply with your suggestions there or here, either works for me. Most important to me is to get community feedback so that the directory is helpful to everyone who utilizes it.

Click the readmore button to read my list of (almost) 150 books which will be featured in the directory to start. These are all books from my personal collection, not sponsored. It is only fair to note that the old books which are listed (say everything pre-1980) I got from the archives at various libraries and they are photocopies. You won't be able to buy them but if you see something you like check the libraries in your city and city schools. I even have a couple patternmaking books from the 20's. Never ever discount a book just because it's old! (I've linked some of the books to their Amazon page for those that are interested in learning about them before the directory comes up)

Art books:
Art and Technique of Flower Painting
How to Compose Winning Pictures
Portrait Photography - Secrets of Light and Posing
Posing Techniques for Glamour Photography

DiY and Crafts:

Accessories & Leather:
Know Your Accessories
Pattern Magic Vol 1
Pattern Magic Vol 2
Practical Glovemaking
Working with Leather

Business, Manufacturing, Technical Design and Portfolios:
Apparel Merchandising
Portfolio Presentation for Fashion Designers

Children's Wear:
9 Heads (childrens portion including flats)
Illustration for Fashion Design (childrens portion)

Computer:

On Second thought...this is taking much longer than I anticipated so I will post the remaining books tomorrow (drafting, draping, illustration, construction, and costumes).

Sometimes this little summary looks better if there is no border around it. If you think it would look better on your website without a border find the code that says
