"On Monday, New York City's Bloomberg administration announced that it will be subsidizing rent for a 10,000 square foot fashion incubator space"

If you're 7-14 years old and you dream of being a fashion designer, the Wee Scotty Project Runway Junior is for you.

Remember to constantly look at non-fashion sources of inspiration. I know I do. This week I found this incredible light-painting (I don't know what else to call it) of a parrot. I remember seeing a futuristic dress in 125 Magazine which used a similiar technique, I wonder what it is?

I found a fantastic blog post which teaches how to modify patterns to get a different style (dart manipulation, etc). It's written in an easy to follow method that I think novices will like. Working with patterns is not scary, I promise! The Lutterloh patterns she is talking about are just a patternmaking company, don't worry about it...apply her instructions to any pattern you have.

In addition to looking at non-fashion sources of inspiration, you should also be looking at other types of art and design knowledge and applying it to what you have learned with fashion and textiles design. Read up on shape in design and if you have a chance read last week's article on line in design.

It is never too late to tweak your portfolio. Go read some great tips at Online Fashion Studios.

No idea if this magazine is any good as it's the first I've heard of it but Sketchbook magazine's latest addition is a Fashion Blogger issue.

Speaking of magazines, a new 100% student run fashion magazine, LUX, has been launched.

When you are patternmaking, or using a pattern someone else made, it is very important that the fabric and the pattern are complimentary to each other. I wondered which characteristics and attributes you should consider when developing a pattern.

okay, I know I am not supposed to be covering fashion trends, etc but what the hell?!? Gaultier designing for Target?

I learn a great deal from the blogs and news-sites that I follow but it sure does take a long time to go through them. In the FSO Blog Roundup my goal is to share several times a week the highlights from these websites. Let me do the crawling for you! Subscribe or visit FSO often and get a near daily dose of great info from hundreds of fashion, textiles, fashion school, and business sources. Don't forget to add your blog to the directories so that I can follow it too!

Sometimes this little summary looks better if there is no border around it. If you think it would look better on your website without a border find the code that says
