I stumbled upon this series of videos from the old Expert Village yesterday and I wanted to share them with you.The designer, Lauren Bradley, gives a brief explanation of haute couture covering all aspects from body type to purchasing to haute couture as art, not fashion and it is a good intro for those unfamiliar with what haute couture actually is. Below I have embedded the videos from Youtube. Or, if you would rather watch them on ehow you can access the series at this link:

http://www.ehow.com/video_4408233_haute-couture-fashion.html

The ehow videos do not work very well with my computer but they do automatically progress to the next in the series so I like using ehow when I will be running the video in the background, just listening to the audio. Btw I should add that in my personal opinion, the Fashion Sketching series by this same designer is not a good idea to watch (and therefore I will not link to it but wanted to warn you incase you find it yourself). As an example as to why you should not watch it, she calls a technical flat drawing a "crokie" (I assume this is a misspelling of croquis), not to mention her "quick" method is actually very time consuming...but this series is worth the listen if you would like a basic intro to Haute Couture :)
